The first major RadioSport event adopted Twitter hashtag #cqwpx for this weekend. This is all about sharing the ultimate ham radio experience with live streaming of tweets at CQ World Wide WPX landing page. I'd count this as a bold move both for the contest director and contest sponsor who are taking a risk for the future of RadioSport.

My noobie recommendations are as follow --

1. If any information specifically related to call sign and frequency is spotted on Twitter and I'm connected to the stream and observing then I have an ethical obligation to assign myself to the single operator all band (SOAB) assisted category.

There are many of us bemoaning the demise of social standards and now is the opportunity to demonstrate the next level in RadioSport ethics and fun.

1. Unsportsmanlike conduct is operationally defined in Section XIII. Rule Violations wherein it is stated, "[U]se of any non-amateur means of communications to SOLICIT, ARRANGE, or CONFIRM any contacts during or after the contest will be deemed sufficient cause for disqualification."

Additionally, unsportsmanlike conduct doesn't stop at solicitation, arrangement, and confirmation during or after the event.

1. Section XIII. Rule Violations stated further, "ANY use by an entrant of any non-amateur means including, but not limited to, telephones, email, Internet, Instant Messenger, chat rooms, VoIP, or the use of DX Clusters to SOLICIT, ARRANGE, or CONFIRM any contacts during the contest is unsportsmanlike and the entry is subject to disqualification."

I'd say the Old Dawgs know better and let their conscious be the guide. On the other hand, it's never cliche to revisit the rules, understand the rules of the game, and have a lot of RadioSport fun over the holiday weekend.
