Good morning from #hamr shackadelic where I'm comfortably relaxing with The Master's Tournament on the flat screen, a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and a stack of ham radio related magazines. I decided instead of time in the shack that today is impeccable for turning analog pages. Likewise, I'd like to keep notes on what it is I'm learning and, perhaps, a few of us read the same article and would like to comment as well?
I enjoyed On The Edge: Using QRP Next to Saltwater by Bill Vanderheide, N7OU and his description of different types of verticals that work best near saltwater. Also, Bill likes the great outdoors and operating his wireless equipment this combination makes for a great read in the March 2013 edition of CQ Magazine. Lastly, his recommendations are especially noteworthy specifically optimal distance for antenna from saltwater, position of antenna to major population centers, and vertical wire configurations.
