W8MRC (Milford Amateur Radio Club): Five MARC Ops Helped with the Flying Pig Marathon

On the chili morning of May 5, 2013, Five ops from the Milford Amateur Radio Club descended into Cincinnati to assist with the Flying Pig Marathon.  These ops, N8JMV, WS6K, N8DLS, KE8P, and KD8MKP (new volunteer this year!) assisted at water and medical stations throughout the route.  Additionally, N8JMV helped with the 5k and 10k events on Saturday (and your author verified this as he ran the 10k and saw N8JMV on the course).

This was the 15th annual Flying Pig weekend, and the weekend has grown this year to include a Friday night event, the Little King’s 1 Mile, which is part of the Cincinnati Beer Series races (there were amateur radio ops along the course for that, but none from MARC).  These races have brought together the best amateur radio ops in the region to help monitor the course and has continually received accolades from other emergency services in the tri-state area.
