MARC has just completed our two major events of the year, Hamfest and Field Day. I am pleased to report that both events were a roaring success!
At the June meeting, we appointed two MARC members to serve as liaison to the “Regional Hamfest Committee”. These members were appointed to attend the meetings and report back to MARC membership developments in planning a regional HAMFEST. At this point, MARC MEMBERSHIP direction is to find out more information before we make a commitment. In any case it will not replace MARC Hamfest.
There is going to be a “Regional” Ohio QSO Party. Thanks to Dave (N8DZ) we have a special event call sign, W8O. MARC will not be fielding a station, but our members can participate by using one of the other club’s stations. More information to follow……
Our July meeting is “lucky” 7/11/13 at 7:30pm at the Faith Church. The presentation will be from Mark Tannert (WN8U) on “Solar Power and Storage”. VE testing will be at 6:00pm as usual.
It is a good time to join the “Field Operations Committee” or “2014 Hamfest Committee”. The Field Operations Committee will be doing a “postmortem” on 2013 Field Day, beginning planning for “Ohio Parks on the Air” and planning for 2014 Field Day. There have been a lot of good suggestions to improve 2014 Field Day and field operations going forward.
We are looking for suggestions for venues for the MARC Holiday Season Party and MARC Birthday Party. There has been interest to “change it up” by going to a venue that provides a served sit down dinner and adult beverages (if desired). We need suggestions for such an affordable location in the greater Milford area. Please direct them to me at mike.kieffer@teamkieffer.com.
