Two Argo VI rigs – a “Non 12″ and a “Non 30″
A trendsetter in ham radio since the 1960′s, Ten-Tec has just released the first of what are certain to become some of the hobby’s most prized rigs.
With keen insight into the psychological attraction of the ”less is more” phenomena, the new Argonaut VI is an attractive new QRP transceiver offering all the quality we’ve come to expect from Ten-Tec over the years.
The introductory Argo VI’s main selling point is brilliant – it offers a lack of the 12 meter band!
Please read and interpret that correctly. It isn’t missing 12 meters; it offers a lack of 12 meters.

It’s safe now to reveal that other versions of the Argonaut VI will soon be released that offer a lack of other individual bands. The particular version offering a lack of 12 meters is being released first to commemorate the year of the model’s introduction – 2012.
In much the same way that some early Heathkits were affectionately referred to as ‘Hot-Water’ rigs (for the HW-32, HW-101 etc), the new inverse monobanders are expected to be nicknamed “the Nons”
I can hardly wait to get my hands on a “Non 20″ Argo VI!
Years from now, when they are no longer available, a QSO between two Argo VI owners on 40 meters may go something like this:
- 1st ham: Rig here is an Argonaut VI.
- 2nd ham: Hey, I’m using an Argo VI too! Mine is a Non 80.
- 1st ham: Mine is one of the originals – a Non 12.
- 2nd ham: Wowsa! Boy, those were the days!
- 1st ham: Yep.
- 2nd ham: Yeppir.
Personally, I can’t wait to collect the whole set.
New versions of the Nons are expected to be released approximately every 4 months – that would make the next one due this coming April 1.
