I learned as an entry level enthusiast to point your antenna toward maximum usable frequencies (MUF) approaching 50 MHz; be prepared for the opening; and expect path loss as MUF continues rising. Likewise, I'd like to experience meteor scatter on the same wavelength and thanks to a short discussion on the Northern California Contest Club reflector, I'll point the antenna north in the morning hours.
On the other hand, storms plagued late Spring and Summer signature events like CQ WPX CW and IARU HF World Championship, hopefully future geomagnetic disturbances will decline in the month of August?
I'm looking forward to this season between October-November and February-March as it maybe the peak of Cycle 24 with my last opportunity at high band spectrum spaces like 10/15m before dormancy toward Europe and Africa on a predictable basis.
There remains six more entities to log and confirm on ten meters resulting in DXCC on all three high bands before Cycle 24 descent.
Life is wireless!
