We all have had a month to take a breath after June’s activities, Ham Fest and Field Day. Well buckle up, we have a presentation by KE8P, Andrew Rohne, on Software Defined Radio at the August meeting (8/8/13, 7:30pm) and the MARC Summer Picnic/Ohio State Parks On The Air (OSPOTA) is coming up September 7, 2013.
We will be activating East Fork State Park shelter, operating from 1600 UTC to 2400 UTC. We will be having a “Pot Luck” grill out with the club providing the meat and everyone bringing a covered dish. Everyone is welcome and this is a perfect event for the whole family. The Field committee has not finalized the operating details. Watch the website for the details. Come out and have fun, food and make some contacts! Ps, If you have a Technician license you can make SSB contacts under supervision of one of our advanced license Hams.
We are looking at having the yearend Holiday Party at a new venue that would provide a “sit down” dinner and beverage service. At July’s meeting I requested suggestions for possible venues and have received a few (Schoolhouse Restaurant and Uno’s on Beechmont). If you have a suggestion, please email me. We need a venue that can accommodate 40 people in a private room, reasonable price, good food, cash bar and centrally located to Milford.
