Can RadioSport survive the challenge of the next 100 years?

48-hour Format
The strength of CQ World Wide WPX scoring system is an example of a possible activities future within RadioSport's Activity Program. It is scoring diversity for the enthusiast that lends itself to a quality experience in two modes. I'm not 100% that 48-hour formats will survive pending and current activity pressures and, most likely, one or two may endure.

However, if enthusiasts are comfortable with less than half rates or even less on day two, then 48-hour formats may persist.

Day two allows for the vagaries of solar cycle propagation, and allows one to recover from a solar storm during day one or hit the off button if one occurs on day two. Inherently, there is flexibility in a 48-hour format although my concern on this side of the Atlantic, is sustainable rate on a global scale for the next 100 years.

WPX Strength
The strength of CQ WPX scoring system is 1.) prefix multiplier; 2.) points for high band; 3.) points for low band; 4.) points between continents; and 5.) points within continent.

Certainly, the argument is made, that any 'true' DX activity does not count any contact within its own continent instead it is an expression of zero. However, as much as I agree at this time, shifting demographics may require a fresh zero point review of DX scoring systems, because of declining supply in the future.

CQ WPX mission statement said, "For amateurs world wide to contact as many amateurs and prefixes as possible during the contest period."

Zero Point Review
The sustained success of RadioSport and its portfolio may depend on collaborative scoring systems instead of asymmetric systems wherein all W/VE stations contact DX stations or all DX stations contact W/VE stations.

CQ World Wide WPX mission statement and scoring system addresses a collaborative tomorrow.

On the other hand, I cannot see asymmetric systems sustaining themselves in the next 20-years much less 100-years of RadioSport activity, at least on this side of the Atlantic. I also believe, the future health and vitality of RadioSport, has reached a need for scoring systems like CQ World Wide WPX wherein all enthusiasts are engaged at any point during the event period.

Conclusion
Overall, zero point, asymmetric scoring systems are counter productive to the future despite today's rate glut. The template of the future may well be found in the CQ World Wide WPX scoring system and mission statement.
