Having nothing to do with radio, so very off-topic here, Surviving Hitler: A Love Affair may be an odd choice for a movie to watch on Valentine’s Day.
But if you have an interest in WW2 history (as I’ve learned many of you do) and might be interested in an aspect of Operation Valkyrie that is not commonly known – and if you appreciate the personal chemistry that can exist between a man and a woman over the decades through thick and thin, then this documentary may interest you.
Narrated by Jutta Cord (who now lives in Connecticut), Surviving Hitler: A Love Affair is an uplifting story from a period not normally associated with optimism:
As a teenager in Nazi Germany, Jutta is shocked to discover she is part Jewish. She joins the German resistance and meets Helmuth, an injured soldier. The two become sweethearts and soon co-conspirators in the final plot to assassinate Hitler.
An amazing documentary – and who says Valentine’s Day can’t be historically educational!
Streaming now on Netflix.
